The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, MMPN, has felicitated the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on his 20th anniversary on the throne.
In a press statement by its national president, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, on November 1, 2026, the association said 20 years on the throne was a remarkable milestone, describing it as two decades of service to Islam, the Muslim Ummah and the country, marked by dignity, wisdom and strong commitment to peace and unity.
MMPN said as its Grand Patron, the Sultan held a special place in the organisation and appreciated his support and confidence in Muslim media practitioners and in the role of the media in promoting understanding, responsible citizenship and peaceful coexistence.
The group said the Sultan had used his voice over the years to encourage dialogue, tolerance and mutual respect among Nigerians of different faiths and backgrounds, noting that at a time when the country faced difficult moments, those messages had often provided reassurance.
MMPN also appreciated the Sultan’s recognition of the responsibility that came with using the media to serve society, saying his encouragement had strengthened its resolve to pursue the profession with fairness, professionalism and a clear sense of responsibility to the public.
The association said it celebrated the years of service and contributions of the Sultan to the Muslim community and to Nigeria’s quest for peace and national cohesion.
MMPN added that it joined the Muslim Ummah, the Sultanate Council, the people of Sokoto and Nigerians across the country in celebrating the milestone, praying that Almighty Allah continued to grant him good health, wisdom and strength, and blessed him with many more years of service to Islam, humanity and Nigeria.
