The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, NCDC, on Saturday said that Nigeria has identified two suspected cases of Ebola disease in the North-East region, with both individuals isolated as investigations and laboratory testing continue.
The agency said in a post on its official X handle that the suspected cases were undergoing laboratory testing to determine whether they had Ebola disease, while health authorities had commenced contact identification and listing.
The agency said that however, the classification of the individuals as suspected cases did not mean they had been confirmed positive for Ebola disease.
“Confirmation will depend on the results of laboratory tests, with further information expected as investigations progress.
“The public is advised to maintain proper hand hygiene, observe enhanced sanitation practices and adhere to guidance issued by public health authorities,” it said.
The agency said that further updates would be provided as verified information becomes available.
