One person was reportedly killed and several others injured when a trailer allegedly rammed into a campaign procession of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday in Ede, Osun State.
The incident, it was gathered, occurred in the Oke Gada area of the town during a campaign walk organised for the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
It was learnt that the driver of the trailer claimed the vehicle suffered brake failure.
An eyewitness said the trailer veered off its course and went into the party procession.
The Injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The Director of Media and Information of the APC in the state, Mr. Kola Olabisi, confirmed the incident, noting that full details were yet to reach the party secretariat.
He added that the party had dispatched a team to ascertain the actual cause of the accident and would provide further information upon conclusion of its findings.
When contacted, the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Osun Command, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi, said the command was yet to receive any official report on the incident.
