The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has earned the confidence and support of Nigerians through his courageous leadership, commitment to national development and the promise of greater prosperity for the country.

Speaking at the flag-off of the APC presidential campaign in Kaduna State, Professor Yilwatda welcomed President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to the North-West, describing the occasion as a defining moment in the party’s determination to consolidate its achievements and secure a renewed mandate in the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the national chairman said the enthusiasm surrounding the campaign reflected growing public confidence in the president’s leadership, particularly among women, young people and other Nigerians who believe in the administration’s vision for a stronger, more prosperous and economically resilient nation.

“Mr President, the people have spoken, and their voice is loud and clear. Nigerians are happy. Our women are happy, our youths are happy, and the people are encouraged by your leadership. Today, we celebrate a courageous leader who has demonstrated the determination to take difficult but necessary decisions in the interest of our country.

“We are proud to present to Nigerians the most competent and credible candidate for the presidency. The APC is united, prepared and confident. The governors have spoken, and the political realignments involving the Accord Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, are further indications of the growing national conversation around the President’s leadership and the direction of our country,” he said.

Yilwatda noted that the APC’s campaign would be anchored on the administration’s record, its ongoing reforms and a compelling vision for the future.

He urged Nigerians to assess the government not only by the challenges confronting the country but also by the courage required to address longstanding structural problems and lay a sustainable foundation for national prosperity.

According to him, the Tinubu administration has demonstrated the political will to confront difficult economic realities, strengthen national infrastructure and reposition the country for sustainable growth.

He expressed confidence that the benefits of the ongoing reforms would become increasingly evident as implementation continued.

The APC national chairman maintained that the president’s first term had established a foundation upon which a second-term administration could build a more prosperous, secure and inclusive Nigeria.

“The task before us is to consolidate the gains, deepen the reforms and ensure that the promise of Renewed Hope translates into greater opportunities, improved livelihoods and shared prosperity for our people. We believe that the President deserves the opportunity to complete this work and take Nigeria to the next level,” he added.

In a significant moment at the campaign flag-off, Yilwatda presented the APC’s flags to the seven governors of the North-West geopolitical zone seeking re-election, affirming the party’s confidence in its state leadership and its determination to consolidate its political strength across the region.

The governors are Uba Sani (Kaduna State); Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano State); Dikko Umaru Radda (Katsina State); Umar Namadi (Jigawa State); Nasir Idris (Kebbi State); Ahmad Aliyu (Sokoto State) and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara State).

Presenting the flags, the national chairman expressed confidence in the governors’ leadership and urged them to sustain their engagement with the people, strengthen party unity and mobilise support for President Tinubu and all APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general election.

He emphasised that the North-West remained strategically important to the APC’s national electoral prospects and that victory would require sustained grassroots mobilisation, effective communication of government policies and achievements, and a united front among party leaders at all levels.

Yilwatda also called on party members, elected officials, stakeholders and supporters across the seven states to work collectively towards a successful campaign, stressing that unity, discipline and a shared sense of purpose would be critical to the party’s electoral success.

The national chairman commended the Kaduna State government, under Governor Uba Sani, as well as the party’s leadership, campaign organisers and supporters for their contributions to the successful commencement of the presidential campaign.

He described Kaduna as a strategic location for the campaign’s opening, noting that the North-West’s electoral importance made the region central to the APC’s national mobilisation efforts.

He urged party faithful to conduct the campaign with discipline, issue-based engagement and respect for democratic principles, while ensuring that the administration’s policies, achievements and future commitments are communicated clearly to Nigerians.

Yilwatda reaffirmed that the APC would approach the 2027 election with confidence, a strong organisational structure and a commitment to presenting its record and vision to the electorate.

He called on Nigerians to remain engaged in the democratic process and support the party’s candidates as the campaign progresses across the country.

“The journey to 2027 has begun, and the APC is ready. We have a President with the courage to lead, a party with the capacity to mobilise and a vision centred on the prosperity of our people. Together, we will build on our achievements, confront our challenges and work towards a stronger Nigeria,” the national chairman said.
