The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, has described as false, reports that he was detained by the Department of State Services, DSS, over alleged corrupt practices during the primaries of the party held recently.

He said his encounter with the DSS was a conversation and not detention.

The governor who spoke on Saturday with editors in Lagos said contrary to reports, the DSS did not ask him to  return on the second day.

According to him, the conversation was about the APC primaries held recently.

“The conversation centred around APC primaries. The question now is whether or not it is the DSS job to interfere in a political party’s issues. And if there’s an allegation of corruption, it is the responsibility of EFCC and ICPC.”

He also denied reports that he was released on administrative bail.

He said he it was also not true that the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, came to pick him up from the DSS office.

“I was the one who called Yahaya Bello and he came but I drove home in my own car,” Oshiomhole said.

There had been an insinuation that his invitation by the DSS was a result of the complaints of alleged bribery against him by some who lost out in the party primaries.

The Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun and Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, were said to be behind his travail.

However, Amosun has since cleared his name and that of Okorocha.

He said he had no hand in the travail of the APC chairman.

Meanwhile, Oshiomhole has lambasted the Peoples Democratic Party over the allegation that he fled the country as a result of his encounter with the DSS over alleged case of bribery.

He said he was scheduled to travel on Monday but had to shelve it to enable him have a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

He therefore travelled on Tuesday.

Said he:  “What would they have said if it was the PDP chairman that was invited by DSS, for instance over the dollar bazaar at their Port Harcourt primary?

“They would have said democracy is under threat and would have fired a letter to the UN as they often ridicule themselves.”

He said it was not impossible that some APC members were working with the PDP against him.
