WAFU-U20: Flying Eagles humble Togo 3-0

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria defeated the U-20 football team of Togo 3-0 on Thursday in the second Group B match of the ongoing WAFU-U20 tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.

The young Sparrow Hawks of Togo held the Flying Eagles to a scoreless first half, but Nigeria got the breakthrough two minutes into the second half.

Muiz Adeleke, who scored a brace against the Black Satellites of Ghana, opened the scoring for Nigeria with a beautiful finish.

The Togolese fought for an equalizer but it was Adeleke who got his second of the match in the 59th minute to double Nigeria’s lead.

Abdoulaye Agbejoye came off the bench and scored Nigeria’s third goal in the 85th minute, putting the match beyond the young Sparrow Hawks of Togo.

With the win, the Flying Eagles have qualified for the Semi-finals with one more group match to go.

Nigeria will face Burkina Faso on Sunday in their last Group B match at the Yamoussoukro stadium, Cote d’Ivoire.

The match will be played 3 p.m. Nigerian time.
