Police in Osun have released the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mr Teslim Igbalaye, who was arrested on Wednesday at his residence alongside five others over alleged vote buying.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the development on Thursday.

Ojelabi said Igbalaye had been released, but could not confirm the status of the other suspects, noting that investigations were ongoing.

Police operatives on Wednesday arrested a suspect identified as “Ashipa” at a residential property linked to the SSG.

He said that during the operation, Igbalaye and five other persons found within the premises were taken into lawful custody.

Items reportedly recovered from the premises include N4.8 million in cash, a Dynabook laptop, a photocopying machine, a printer, two voter cards and a voter register covering Wards 1 to 15.

The police spokesperson said available facts provided reasonable grounds to investigate the suspects for alleged vote buying.
