The Lagos State government has announced an emergency closure of Eko Bridge outbound to Lagos Island from May 12 for safety investigations and repair works.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, advised motorists to use alternative routes.
According to him, the closure will affect the stretch between Apongbon and Ijora Olopa.
“Road users heading to Lagos Island should divert through the Third Mainland Bridge.
“The inward Lagos Island carriageway will remain open to motorists,” he said.
He added that traffic and security personnel would be deployed along alternative routes to ensure smooth vehicular movement and help maintain order during the period of the closure.
