The results of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, will be released on Saturday, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced.
The announcement was made on Friday in Abuja by the registrar of the board, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, who spoke to journalists.
The release of the results will be coming after a long period of suspense.
In the past few years, results were released few hours after the examination.
However, owing to the need to ensure that those who were involved in malpractices in the last examination were fished out, the board said it had conducted a thorough screening.
The 2019 examination was held from April 11 to April 18 with over 1.8 million candidates registered.
Said Oloyede: “We are releasing our results tomorrow; we are having a meeting today to consider what to put out.”
During the screening examination, the board arrested many suspects over examination malpractices.
Many centres where the examination was conducted were also found to have been involved in one malpractice or the other.
Also, a staff of JAMB said to have collected N25,000 from a candidate in 2018 was apprehended and paraded.
Stressing that the board would deal decisively with anyone found to be involved in malpractices, Oloyede declared: “We are not hiding anything; we are ready to deal with anybody caught and they must face the wrath of the law.”
