Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has prayed for the recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, who was reported to have tested positive for coronavirus.

In the message on his Twitter handle, @atiku, on Monday, written in both English and Hausa, the former vice president said his thoughts and prayers were with Kyari.

The tweet reads: “My thoughts and prayers are with Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari. Allah ya kare mu gabaki daya, kuma ya bashi lafiya (Meaning: May Allah shield us all and grant him healing). –AA.”

A national newspaper, ThisDay reported that a test for the disease was carried out on President Buhari and Kyari who recently travelled to Germany.

While Buhari was reported to have tested negative, Kyari was positive.

The result of Kyari’s status was said to have been made known to him on Monday after which he went into complete isolation.

He was said to have travelled to Germany on March 7, 2020, where he met with officials of Siemens in Munich on the Nigerian electricity expansion programme.

He came back on March 14, 2020, without any symptoms according to the report.

He was said to have started coughing on Sunday, thus fuelling the suspicion that something must have gone wrong, hence the test.

Recall that Atiku’s son has also tested positive to coronavirus.
