2027: INEC publishes particulars of Tinubu, Atiku, Obi, others

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Saturday published the personal particulars of candidates contesting the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The publication was carried out at INEC state offices nationwide in accordance with the commission’s revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections.

The published particulars featured presidential candidate and their designated running mates representing various political parties across the country.

According to the details released by the commission, President Bola Tinubu was listed as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, with Vice President Kashim Shettima retained as his running mate.

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, fielded former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate, paired with former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as his vice-presidential running mate.

Similarly, the National Democratic Coalition, NDC, published Peter Obi as its presidential candidate, with former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as his running mate.

Other political party flagbearers and their running mates published by the electoral body include the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with Sandy Onor as Presidential candidate, and Umaru Babangida as runing mate.

Also were African Action Congress, AAC: Omoyele Sowore as Presidential candidate, and Garba Magashi as Vice-Presidential candidate; Young Progressives Party, YPP, – Zugwai Chukwu as presidential candidate, and Egbeola Martins as VP.

Social Democratic Party, SDP, – Adewole Adebayo as Presidential candidate and Bujgaje Mohammed as VP; African Democratic Party, ADP: Abbas-Bin Aliyu as Presidential candidate, Ike Chinazam as vice presidential candidate; National Democratic Congress, NDC – Fredrick Okwori as presidential candidate, Anthony Chukwuemeka as running mate.

For Labour Party, LP – Chibuzo Okereke (Presidential candidate), Bintu Konto (VP); New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP – Mohammed Dikwa (Presidential candidate), Isah Abubakar (VP); Action Alliance (AA).

Also published were the details of candidates for the Senate and the House of Assembly

INEC noted that the display of personal particulars allowed the public and political stakeholders to inspect the candidates’ credentials and lodge any valid claims or objections as provided by the Electoral Act.
