The Secretary-General of the Yoruba Council of Elders, YCE, Dr. Kunle Olajide, has been suspended indefinitely.
He was accused of “gross misconduct and insubordination” and directed to submit all the materials of the council in his custody to its president, Col. Sam Agbede (rtd).
Olajide’s suspension was announced in a statement issued by the group after its joint meeting of Senior Elders’ Forum and Chairmen of State Chapters at the council’s national secretariat in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The communiqué was issued by the president of the council, Agbede, after the meeting.
It was announced too that Comrade Sam Agbetuyi should immediately take up the position of Assistant Secretary-General 1 for the Council in an acting capacity.
A vote of confidence was said to have been unanimously passed on Agbede as the president of the council.
In the communiqué, the report of the group’s presence and participation at the Southwest Security Summit held in the week was made known.
At the meeting were, among others, Chiefs Mike Omoleye, Jibade Oyekan, Adegboye Onigbinde, Anthony Meraiyebu, Dr. Rasaki Shiyanbola, Prof. Adetoun Ogunsheye, Barr. Akin Akinremi and Com. Sam Agbetuyi.
