The federal government has declared Monday, May 3, 2021, as public holiday for the celebration of this year’s International Workers’ Day.
Workers’ Day is celebrated on May 1 of every year.
The declaration of the holiday was announced on Thursday by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Shuaibu Belgore.
While congratulating Nigerian workers on the occasion of the day, the minister gave the assurance that the challenges of the moment would soon be over as the government was committed to the security of lives and property of all Nigerians.
He reiterated the determination of the government to move the country to the next level of socio-economic development.
“Government is putting all strategies in place to curb the challenges of insecurity in the country. I therefore call on the labour force and all patriotic citizens to be fully committed to the task of putting insecurity to a permanent end as much as possible,” he added.
