The All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that it will not intervene in the crisis over the certificate of return of Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, because he is on suspension.
Okorocha has been at loggerheads with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over his certificate of return.
INEC has refused to issue him the document as the Senator-elect for Imo West senatorial district as the Returning Officer in the March 9 election in the state said he was made to declare Okorocha winner under duress.
INEC has since removed Okorocha’s name from the list of winners.
Okorocha has also gone to court, challenging INEC’s decision to withhold the document.
But speaking in an interactive session with journalists on Wednesday, the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the party could not intervene in the case.
According to him, Okorocha was on suspension following alleged anti-party activities.
He said being on suspension had naturally denied him the support of the party.
