Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday declared that she decided to support the All Prgoressives Congress, APC, in the coming general election because of the different social intervention programmes it had carried out since 2015.

Mrs. Buhari spoke in Kano during the launch of the APC Zonal Campaign Rally for the North West.

The event was held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.

During the event, she appealed to women and the youths to vote for the APC in order to be able to do more.

“In 2015, the APC made some promises and I have come out to campaign for its victory in the 2019 polls because the party has fulfilled some of the promises it made to Nigerians.

“Those promises include the school feeding programme for primary school pupils; the N-Power programme, under which some unemployed graduates are being gainfully engaged and are earning N30,000 monthly; the conditional cash transfer scheme, which is being executed through the office of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo,” Aisha Buhari said.

Also speaking in the same vein, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, Hon. Abdulmumini Jubril, said the coming election was about the future.

He said it was crucial to the youths in particular hence the need for them to join in the campaign.

His words: “This election is about the future of Nigerian youths, so we are calling on Nigerian youths to compare what we have in the past and what is obtainable now, especially the repairs that the President is carrying out on our damaged infrastructure and our battered economy.”

A former Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, praised the government’s achievements in the area of agriculture and economic growth.

He said there was need to sustain the momentum, hence the need for the support during the coming election.

Present at the occasion were former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau; Governor Umar Ganduje of Kano State; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration, Dr. Hajo Sani and retired General Buba Marwa among other APC chieftains.
