Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has revealed that hoodlums who broke into his palace during the EndSARS protest last year carted away $2 million and N17 million.

He made the revelation on Wednesday during the inauguration of the remodeled Glover Memorial Hall, Lagos Island.

The traditional ruler however said as a father, he would not place a curse on those responsible for the theft.

The inauguration of the hall was carried out by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

During the protest in October last year, video of how the palace was invaded and money and staff of office were stolen, went viral.

His words: “The incident that happened here from October 20th to 23rd is so saddening.

“The destruction we suffered in Lagos is so enormous than in any other part of the country. Many buildings were burnt, including vehicles used to generate income. I can now say publicly that they stole $2m and N17m from my palace.

“Those who committed the offence would not have done that if they knew the implication. But as a father, I won’t place any curse on them.”
