The newly appointed Ondo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Corps Commander Ahmed Hassan, has affirmed the readiness of the agency to continue to support the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, to achieve its set objectives.
Corps Commander Hassan stated this when he paid courtesy call on the state coordinator, Mrs. Grace Akpabio, at the NYSC secretariat, Akure.
He asserted that the harvest of successes recorded in the 47 years old scheme was a pride to the traffic administration and enforcement agency in the country.
The FRSC chief who hails from Michika in Adamawa State said that the synergy between the two federal government agencies could be likened to the relationship between two siblings.
He said NYSC had remained a unifying factor and had contributed immensely to the development of the country.
He said that the youths of this country constituted a dominant force to take the country to higher heights and the role of NYSC to make that happen could not be underemphasised.
“NYSC is playing a pivotal role thus ensuring that moral values and positive attitude necessary for nation building is bequeathed to the youths of this country and this is evident in the quality of the participants of NYSC programme,” he said.
He thanked the state coordinator and her management team for flying high the flag of the scheme in Ondo State, stressing that his command would collaborate more with the youth organisation in the area of enforcement of night travel ban on corps members.
Welcoming the new FRSC boss to Ondo State, Akpabio enjoined him to leverage on the robust relationship established by his predecessor who has been transferred to the corps headquarters on promotion.
She advised him to use his wealth of experience garnered over the years in operations to sustain the enviable heights the FRSC had attained since establishment in February, 1988.
“I want to let you know that your reputation has preceded you before your assumption of duty as one individual who has the unity of this country uppermost in his mind and I want to charge you to continue in this direction,” she said.
She prayed that the FRSC boss would not renege on his strong belief and commitment to see that the FRSC continued to succeed.
Akpabio, while wishing the new FRSC helmsman a successful tenure and wonderful stay in the Ondo State enjoined him to promote the activities of NYSC/FRSC Road Safety Club in all the local government areas.
