The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Akpabio, has disclosed that the management of the scheme places priority on corps members’ wellbeing over their services to the nation.
Akpabio made the disclosure while briefing prospective corps members deployed to Ondo State.
According to her, the NYSC management would not compromise on the medical fitness and would do everything humanly possible to protect all the members of the service corps.
“My distinguished prospective corps members, we know that the zeal to contribute your quota to the development of this country has fired your commitment to enlist in the service but our greatness concern is your health and well-being.
“Report to the Camp Clinic and declare your health status and do not hold on to the misconceptions and wrong information that if you tell us your health status, you will be decamped. This is not true as our mandate is to protect and mould you to become better citizens and leaders of this great country,” she said.
The NYSC boss restated the commitment of the management to accommodate genuine requests made to advance the ideals of the scheme.
She appealed to the prospective corps members to see all the camp officials as their parents, brothers and sisters who were on ground to make orientation course worth participating in.
The state coordinator asserted that the managers of the scheme would not condone any act of indiscipline among the prospective corps members during the three weeks orientation course but added that the recalcitrant ones shall be dealt with in accordance with the NYSC bye law.
