Violence: El-Rufai imposes 24 hours curfew on Kaduna

Following the increasing tension in some parts of Kaduna State, the government has imposed a 24 hours curfew on Kaduna city and its environs.

The curfew was announced on Sunday in a statement by the spokesman of Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Samuel Aruwan.

The curfew was said to have been imposed in the interest of the state.

The statement reads in part:  “This is a notice of a 24-hour curfew imposed on Kaduna town and environs, with immediate effect. Residents are advised to comply by this directive.”

It would be recalled that there was a religious violence on Thursday in Kasuwan Magani community in Kajuru local government area of the state.

No fewer than 55 persons were said to have died as a result of the violence.

On Sunday, reports of clashes in some parts of the state  were rife, leaving many to be uncertain of the security situation.
