Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday during the Federal Executive Council valedictory meeting expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for the great trust he reposed in him.

He said he would forever remember the assurance of the president not to fiddle with his (Osinbajo’s) discretion as Acting President in any way when he was on a medical trip abroad in 2017.

His words:  “My deepest gratitude comes from the great trust that you reposed in me at all times.

“I will never forget when you were going on medical leave in May 2017 and you said to me in the course of conversation that evening that you will not fiddle my discretion as acting President in anyway.

“And in keeping with your character and style you kept your words.’’

Also, the ministers who were at the valedictory meeting thanked the president for the opportunity to serve the country.

Meanwhile, the president at the meeting directed all cabinet ministers to remain in office until May 28.

This is as he thanked them for serving the country.

He however said they should hand over the mantle of leadership of their ministries to their Permanent Secretaries on Tuesday.

Their handing over letters, he instructed, should be submitted to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation by May 28.

Said he:  “Although today is our last council meeting, I expect all of you to continue working until Tuesday, May 28, when you will officially hand over your schedules to your respective Permanent Secretaries.

“Your handing over letters should be submitted to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.”
