The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, has appealed to the Federal Government to refund the sum of N32 billion being money said to have been spent on federal roads in the state by his predecessors.
The governor made the appeal on Thursday when he met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Uzodinma made the purpose of his visit known to State House correspondents shortly after his meeting with the president.
He explained that his plea was informed by the state of financial distress he found Imo State.
The money, the governor explained, if refunded, would be useful in clearing both salary and pension arrears.
Uzodinma said he had to explain the situation on the ground in Imo State to President Buhari.
The governors before Uzodinma are Achike Udenwa; Ikedi Ohakim, Rochas Okorocha and Emeka Ihedioha.
