Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, with one victim rescued by the police.

The arrest followed a petition referred to Ibadan by the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The two suspects arrested, according to the Lagos Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bala Elkana, in a statement he issued, are one Thoa Akorede ‘m’ and Alhaji Muhibudeen Akorede ‘m’.

Their victim who was rescued in the operation carried out by the police is one Mathew Isichei Chukwuebuka who is 19 years old.

The police said the victim had been in their custody for a period of nine days without food before he was rescued.

He was quoted as stating that he was called through his phone and he could not recollect how he got to Ibadan.

He said on arrival, he was given something from a black pot to eat and he lost his senses.

He said he was ordered to surrender his phone to them and the phone was programmed to reject any incoming calls except the only line that they were demanding the ransom through.

He said that they collected all the money in his possession and demanded for more.

He said he was taken to an ATM point where they withdrew the sum of N10,000 from his account.

The kidnappers were said to have demanded the sum of N30,000,000 to be paid into the victim’s bank account as ransom.

The victim, upon rescue, had since been reunited with his family.

The suspects were charged to court and remanded in prison custody.
