The National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has up till 12.00 p.m. on Thursday to produce some documents needed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its presidential candidate in the last election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The order also affected the Zamfara Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, who is to make available, results sheets of all the polling units in the state for the PDP.
This is the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, led by Justice Mohammed Garba.
The order followed an application by PDP counsel, Chris Uche, on Wednesday.
The ruling was sequel to an application by PDP’s counsel, Chris Uche, on Wednesday.
He complained that the documents requested for had not been provided.
He therefore requested that the tribunal should make it imperative for the documents to be provided.
Compelling INEC to produce the documents on Thursday, Garba said: “We note that the INEC chairman and REC were asked to produce documents on the day they were served, that is impossible.
“They have been directed to produce documents in the subpoenas by 12 p.m. tomorrow.”
