Seven vehicles were confiscated on Friday in Lagos by the police as 22 traffic laws offenders were apprehended in different parts of the state.

The offenders were arraigned in the mobile court set up for the purpose.

Most of the offenders drove against traffic.

The prosecution marked the commencement of the joint action of the police command in Lagos and the state judiciary against violators of traffic rules.

The enforcement of traffic laws, the Lagos police command said, would be sustained all through the festive periods and beyond.

The enforcement team, according to police spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana, in a statement he issued, was guided by the mantra “Traffic must flow.”

It could be recalled that the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, upon assumption of office declared a state of emergency in traffic and deployed additional one thousand police officers for traffic control.

The CP with the support of Lagos State government, deployed 200 motorcycles for traffic control and patrols to ensure free flow of traffic and also combat traffic related crimes such as traffic robbery.
