Senator Elisha Abbo (representing Adamawa North), on Monday pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault filed against him by the police at a Magistrate Court in Zuba, Abuja.
He was arraigned following the video recorded via the Close Circuit Television, CCT, showing him assaulting a sales girl at the toy shop.
The video drew the ire of members of the public, forcing the senator to tender a public apology.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, ordered a probe into the case and the arrest of the senator and his orderly.
Charged to court on Monday, Abbo pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault against him.
The Senior Magistrate at the court, Abdullahi Ilellah, granted him a bail of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate adjourned the case till July 22 for hearing
