The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has called off his 70th birthday colloquium following the death of passengers in the attack on Kaduna bound train on Monday.
Several persons were reported to have been killed in the attack carried out by terrorists who bombed the rail track.
Tinubu said it would be wrong for him and others gathered for the event to be wining and dancing when lives were being lost.
Said he: “What is happening in Nigeria calls for sober reflection. For me dancing, eating and drinking here when our sisters and brothers have been killed doesn’t befit an elder stateman like me. As a result of that I call off this event. Christians and Muslims should continue to pray for our dear nation.
“I pray God comfort those who lost their lives in the tragic incident and I pray to God to set Nigeria on the right path and return peace to our land.”
It was gathered that the train departed Abuja 6 p.m. and was expected to arrive Kaduna 8 p.m. on Monday
It was however attacked at about 7.45 p.m. at Katari and Rijana train stations, en route Kaduna from Abuja.
