The Olota of Ota, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, has described as very unfortunate, the loss of lives and properties as a result of the tanker explosion in Ota area of Ogun State on Friday.
The explosion which occurred in the early hours of the day left no fewer than two people dead, six injured and 17 vehicles burnt.
In a statement by his Personal Assistant, Prince Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusesi, the monarch directed additional rescue mechanism to support the ones on ground.
Professor Obalanlege, upon hearing the news of the explosion, his personal assistant said, dispatched a team led by the Onikotun of Otun-Otta, Oba Abdulhakeem Odunaro, to the scene for necessary assistance.
The monarch commended the swift response of men of the State Fire Service in conjunction with TRACE personnel, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and other well meaning Nigerians whose prompt interventions salvaged the ugly situation.
He called for a probe of the immediate and remote causes of the incident in order to find a lasting solution to the frequent loss of lives and property at the Toll Gate area.
Oba Obalanlege called for support for the victims, and prayed for the repose of the soul of the dead.
