A former senator who represented Kaduna Central in the last Senate, Shehu Sani, has lambasted northern governors over their support for plans to regulate social media.
He said that should be the least of their problem at the moment going by the state of insecurity in their part of the country.
The governors under the aegis of Northern Governors Forum, on Monday, issued a communiqué expressing their support for the plan to regulate the social media in order to check the spread of fake news in the country.
But reacting to that on his Twitter handle on Tuesday, Shehu Sani said:
“Northern governors; their kinsmen are being slaughtered daily by bandits & insurgents, their people are daily being kidnapped & impoverished by ransom, their women raped & their villages are under siege. Their people live in Fear & Funerals. Yet, Social Media is their problem.”
