Sexual harassment: Ekiti State University dismisses lecturer

A lecturer of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Mr Olola Aduwo, has been fired with effect from October 7, 2019 for sexually harassing a female student.

The dismissal was approved by the Governing Council of the institution following the recommendation made by the school’s Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee (Academic).

Also dismissed were Mr Cephas Faleye and Dr Kayode Adegoke.

The dismissal of the duo who were found guilty of abandoning their duty posts takes effect from June 7, 2019 and July 11, 2019 respectively.

According to a statement by the Head, Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs, Ekiti State University, Mr Bode Olofinmuagun, the approval was given at the 135th meeting held on Thursday.

The statement by Olofinmuagun reads: “Mr Aduwo, however, later admitted to the allegations and confirmed the authenticity of the report of the preliminary panels before which he had appeared.

“The Governing Council, at its meeting approved the recommendations of the Committee that Mr Aduwo be dismissed from the services of the University with effect from Oct. 7, 2019.”

A video showing Aduwo being molested for sexually harassing a female student went viral some months ago.
