The best way out of any tribulation is to seek support and protection from Almighty Allah, an Islamic scholar, Ameer Sherifdeen Mayaleke, has declared.

Mayaleke made the declaration on Sunday while delivering a lecture on “Tawakul and Sabr – the key to overcome life trials” at the fourth edition of Muslimah Care Volunteering Initiative held in Lagos.

The theme of the event organised for the betterment of the society and to support widows is “Unveiling Her Survival Instincts.”

Mayaleke who spoke against the backdrop of the focus of the event warned against the stigmatisation of widows as it is the case in some societies.

While advising widows in particular to show perseverance and trust in Allah, Mayaleke urged them to seek refuge in Him.

The Ameer of The Academy cited the example of Khadeejah, wife of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) as a good example.

“Allah blessed Khadeejah with Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) the best among mankind despite her bitter experience in her previous marriages as a result of her perseverance,” he said.

A principal medical officer with Lagos State Health Commission, Dr. Faoziyah Orenolu, lectured the participants at the event on the preventive measures against diabetes and hypertension.

She urged widows to adhere to prescriptions religiously, adding that failure to adhere to the directives could threaten their health.

She warned against intake of sugar and processed food seasoning.

Rather, she advised, natural food seasoning should be used as they pose no health challenge.

On her part, an assistant director of medical laboratory services with Lagos Health Service Commission, Hajia Salahudeen Bashorun Rafiat, while dissecting stress management and mental health urged widows to work on their sleep pattern, seek help from qualified doctors, counsellors and not amateurs.

“People are overwhelmed with stress as a result of life’s challenges, hence they need to seek help from professionals on how to reduce the level of stress,” she said.

The founder of the initiative, Hajia Baseeroh Nosirudeen Olayiwola, while speaking on the occasion, expressed joy over the success recorded.

She prayed Allah to reward donors and volunteers, home and abroad, who made the event a success.

Over 60 widows benefitted from the programme.

The compere was Hajia Aminat Hassan

The programme was attended physically and virtually by widows and members of the initiative both within and outside Lagos.
