The government of Oyo State has proscribed the state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW.
The decision of the state government was announced on Friday at a press conference in Ibadan by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Bisi Ilaka.
He said the decision was taken following security breaches and clashes between factions of the union in Ibadan.
The government said the people of the state should go about their businesses without any fear.
Already, six members of the NURTW have been arrested by the police in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the arrests were carried out following disturbances at motor parks between Wednesday and Thursday.
