The family of former Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Nigeria, Chief Richard Akinjide, has postponed the announcement of his burial arrangement.

The burial, the family said, would not hold until after COVID-19 scourge would have been adequately contained.

Akinjude died on April 21.

In a statement by his son, Mr. Abayom Akinjide, the family said the prevailing circumstances, nationally and internationally, made it to defer the announcement of the funeral arrangement.

The younger Akinjide said while the family was thankful to God for the life he lived, the legal luminary who died peacefully of natural causes was an inspiration and devoted himself to his wife, family, the legal profession and Nigeria as a whole.

“Until his death, our Daddy lived an accomplished and fulfilled life as a lawyer, arbitrator, politician and statesman. The outpouring of public and private tributes and encomiums demonstrate how he was loved and highly respected providing comfort and solace for the family,” he said.
