The bid by the convener of Revolution Now protest, Mr. Omoyele Sowere, to regain freedom from the detention of the Department of State Services, DSS, on Wednesday has failed.

The Federal High Court, Abuja, refused to grant the motion filed to that effect by Sowore’s lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana.

He had asked the court to grant his freedom by setting aside the exparte order granted by Justice Taiwo Taiwo which granted the detention order.

An oral application for his bail after the initial one was also rejected by Justice Nkeonye Maya.

Rather, the court directed the case back to Justice Taiwo Taiwo for further hearing.

The order for the DSS to detain Sowore for 45 days was granted by the court on August 8.

The detention was to enable the DSS further investigate the case against Sowore.

Recall that he was behind the mass protest tagged Revolution Now.

The protest was said to be aimed at retrieving power from the present government.

The protest was however frustrated by security agencies who barricaded the National Stadium, Lagos, venue of the protest.
