The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Iheanacho Ihim, has described as fake, the report making the rounds that there was an impeachment process against Governor Rochas Okorocha.

He said even when an impeachment process was a constitutional thing to do, the House had no cause to do that because the governor had not violated any law in the discharge of his duty.

The Speaker, according to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Marcel Ekwezuo, said the report was misleading.

His words:  “His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, has so far conducted himself and steered the administrative machinery of Imo within the most perceived and glaring ambits of the law.

“No member of the Imo House of Assembly has contemplated, even remotely, the misleading allegation of his impeachment charge.”

He added:  “It is an act done in the open; and no member of the State Assembly has any knowledge of the fictitious and imaginary impeachment procedure…

“I enjoin the relevant publics and government of Imo to discountenance the falsehood of Governor Okorocha’s alleged impeachment for what it is – a lie from the pit of hell.”
