The remains of the traditional ruler of Afowowa Kingdom in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State, Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat will be interred on Monday.
The king who is the father of the Deputy Governor-Elect of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, died on Sunday.
The death of the king at 86 was announced by the Deputy Governor-Elect on his twitter handle, @drobafemihamzat on Sunday.
His tweet reads: “Today, I lost my father, Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat. I thank Allah, the most gracious for the life he lived.
“One of the greatest things a father can give his children is courage and belief in their dreams.
“Thank you father for believing in ours.”
Hamzat, it was gathered, will be buried at his Yaya Abatan, Ogba, Lagos residence.
A prominent politician, Hamzat was a member of the elders council of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He was also a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, GAC, of the Lagos State chapter of the APC.
He played key roles in the Alliance for Democracy, AD, later, Action Congress, AC, and Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, before the emergence of the APC.
