The National Association of Public Affairs Analysts, NAPAA, Monday, enjoined youths in the country to have a positive image of themselves for them to be achievers in life.

The association, in a statement by its president, Prince Seun Adelore, and the General Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, while reacting to the attack on Radio Nigeria, Amuludun, Moniya, Ibadan, said the attackers were mostly youths who thought that the only way out for them in life was crime.

It would be recalled that some suspected hoodlums invaded the premises of the Yoruba based Radio Nigeria Station, Amuludun, early on Saturday, July 31, 2021.

The hoodlums who were alleged to be protesting the apprehension and eventual death of a suspected armed robber in Shasha area of Ibadan, damaged windows of the station and destroyed some of the vehicles they found in the premises while number plates of a car were stolen.

It said, “This is why they took to crime in the first place. It is also the reason why they become so desperate whenever they were being challenged for taking to crime.”

The public affairs analysts observed that desperation was what made the gang members to invade Amuludun premises allegedly on a reprisal attack against Soludero hunters.

Reports had it that members of Soludero hunters collaborated with the police to go and apprehend suspected robbers at Shasha and in trying to resist arrest, a gun duel ensued through which one of the hoodlums sustained injuries and eventually died in the hospital.

The association added that that was what made his accomplices to launch an attack on Amuludun which provided a space for Soludero hunters to use as their base.

“We condemn the attack in its entirety. There was no justification for it whatsoever. Even when youths are angry, a media house is not a place to attack as the media are the ones providing their platforms for the youths to channel their grievances to those who would act.

“Attacking a media house is a misdirected anger and is condemnable. It ought not to happen at all,” it said.

While calling on the governments to do more in providing security and jobs for the people, the association also solicited the assistance of government for victims of the unwarranted attack.

The analysts then enjoined youths to realise that no matter how long it takes, the long arm of the law will catch up with criminals, as such, they should refrain from crime.
