Prisoner of Conscience, Majek Fashek, is dead

Reggae musician, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly referred to as Majek Fashek, is dead.

He was said to have died Monday evening at a New York hospital.

His death was confirmed in a video shared by his manager, Omenka Uzoma, on his Instagram page.

Said he: “I have been having pressure calls from all over. Yes, it is true that the legend has gone to be with the LORD.

“Let’s celebrate him, his achievements and his family. Whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified.”

Majek Fashek from Edo State, Nigeria, came to limelight with his 1988 album, Prisoner of Conscience which has the super hit song, Send Down the Rain.

He worked with major artistes worldwide including Tracy Chapman, Jimmy Cliff, Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, and Beyoncé.

Some of his albums are: Prisoner of Conscience, Spirit of Love, Rainmaker and Little Patience.
