The Nigeria Police Force has unveiled the identities of the policemen allegedly involved in the killing of Kolade Johnson on Sunday at Mongoro area of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Lagos.
In a tweet, the pictures of the two policemen said to be attached to the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Lagos State Police Command were shown.
The policemen are Insp. Ogunyemi Olalekan and Sgt Godwin Orji.
The tweet reads: “The men suspected to have carried out the shooting of Kolade Johnson have been apprehended and subjected to internal disciplinary procedures. The CP has revealed their names as (1) Insp Ogunyemi Olalekan and (2) Sgt Godwin Orji attached to Anti Cultism Squad.”
The police had in an earlier statement by its Public Relations Officer in Lagos, Bala Elkana, disclosed that the policemen had been arrested.
He said they were identified following the account of eyewitnesses.
Said Elkana: “Members of the team suspected to be involved in the shooting have since been arrested and are currently in Police custody undergoing interrogation.
“They will be subjected to internal disciplinary procedures, and may be prosecuted in conventional Court if implicated by ongoing investigation.”
The police team was said to have stormed the Mangoro area to arrest some criminals.
It was gathered that when some youths gathered around them, they allegedly shot into the air to disperse the crowd, but unfortunately the bullet hit Kolade Johnson.
He was said to be rushed to the General Hospital, Ikeja, where he was confirmed dead.
Residents of the area went on rampage on Sunday, blocking the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
