Governor Nysom Wike of Rivers State has rescued former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Joi Nunieh, from a siege laid to her Port Harcourt residence by some armed policemen.
The policemen were reported to have been at the residence as early as 4.00 a.m.
She was billed to appear before a panel of the National Assembly probing the financial activities of the NDDC.
A video on Television Continental showed the governor at the premises with his security aides on arrival and during the departure with Nunieh.
Nunieh has been at loggerheads with the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.
The duo who had appeared before the panel at the National Assembly probing the financial activities of the NDDC had accused each other of malpractices.
Nunieh had, apart from accusing Akpabio of financial recklessness, alleged that he harassed her sexually, an action which made her to slap him.
Akpabio has since denied the allegations against him.
Among other things, he accused Nunieh of being temperamental.
It would be recalled that Wike ’s government had warned that nothing bad must happen to Nunieh in view of the crisis over the probe of the NDDC.
