Police in fresh onslaught against criminals, launch ‘Operation Puff Adder’

In a fresh bid to rid the country of criminals, the Nigeria Police Force, on Friday, launched “Operation Puff Adder.”

The operation which will be carried out with the combination of assets of the different security agencies of the country will have as its major focus, the Kaduna – Abuja Expressway, Kogi, Katsina, Niger and Zamfara states.

Men of the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Department of State Services, DSS, will be actively involved in the operation.

Speaking at the launch of the operation, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, stressed the relevance of people of the community in the operation.

According to him, no matter how well-trained, equipped or motivated security personnel might be, their success would depend on the support of the people of the community.

He therefore called on the people to give the necessary support.

He particularly urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth associations, market bodies, cultural associations and professionals among others to give the necessary support in the renewed battle against criminals including kidnappers, armed robbers and cattle rustlers.

He said that citizens in general should co-operate with the security personnel deployed to carry out the operation in the interest of ensuring public security.

He advised criminals to stop their nefarious activities or be ready to face the consequences.
