The Police Command in Oyo State has confirmed the abduction of a businessman, Alhaji Wasiu Aleshinloye, in his residence at Irawo, Atisbo local government area of the state.
The command spokesman, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday in Ibadan.
Olayinka said the case of the victim abducted at gunpoint was reported at Tede Police Division on Monday at about 22:20hrs.
He said a 10-year-old girl also sustained gunshot injuries during the incident.
“However, the girl was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention and extraction of pellets.”
Olayinka said police detectives had visited the scene and recovered three expended shells of ammunition and three face caps, adding that the recovered items were undergoing forensic investigation.
He said tactical and intelligence-driven efforts were currently ongoing to rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend the perpetrators.
