Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one 19 years old Jemila Ibrahim and her friend, 21 years old Fatima Mohammed for setting ablaze the house of one Mohammed Yusuf and causing the death of his girlfriend, Rabi.

The two friends are of Monkey Village, Festac Area, Lagos.

So also is Yusuf.

The incident, according to the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, occurred at 5.30 p.m. on November 18, 2020.

According to the police spokesman, Mohammed Yusuf, an ex-lover to Jemila, had the hint of the incident and rushed to the house where he met his house in flames but managed to rescue Rabi, his new lover.

He took her to the hospital where she gave up the ghost on November 21, 2020, at about 12 p.m.

Mohammed was said to have accused his former lover, Jemila Ibrahim, of infidelity before they broke up.

He later met and fell in love with his new lover, Rabi, that was caught up in the inferno.

Jemila Ibrahim and her accomplice, Fatimo Mohammed, were said to have been arrested by the police operatives attached to Satellite Division of the command.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, who condemned the crime, ordered that the matter be transferred to the State CID, Panti, for discreet investigation.

The Commissioner of Police also vowed to go after those engaging in crimes and social vices in the state.

The police boss, however, encouraged the people of Lagos to shun taking laws into their hands.

He noted that jungle justice would only truncate the administration of justice and such could be counter-productive.
