The Police have promoted four Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and two Commissioners of Police to the rank of Deputy Inspectors-General of Police.
The promotion by the Police Service Commission was announced in a statement issued by its spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, on Monday.
According to the statement, elevated from the rank of AIG to DIG are Abdul Danwawu, Lawal Shehu, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi and Peter Ogunyanwo.
Alex Okpara and Celestine Okoye were promoted from the rank of CP.
Also, 14 CPs were promoted to the next rank of AIG.
While Ogunjemilusi and Okpara will proceed on pre-retirement leave, the remaining four will replace retired DIGs and are also part of the Police Management Team.
Ani added in the statement: “The commission also approved the promotion of 230 Superintendents of Police to Chief Superintendents, 11 Deputy Superintendents of Police to Superintendents and 211 Assistant Superintendents to Deputy Superintendents. Forty-one Inspectors were also promoted to ASP1.”
