A former Director for Legal Services at Nigeria’s Ministry of Petroleum, Grace Taiga, has been remanded in Suleja prison.

She was charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged involvement in a contract scam between Nigeria and the Irish firm, Process and Industrial Development Company (P&ID).

The former director is facing an eight count-charge in the case.

The EFCC accused her of collaborating with former Minister of Petroleum, who is now late, Rilwan Lukman, in the award of the contract.

Her action was said to have violated the constitution of Nigeria.

For her co-operation to ensure that the contract was signed, Taiga was alleged to have collected $20,000 from P&ID.

Taiga however pleaded not guilty of the charges and sought the court to grant her bail.

Justice Olukayode Adeniyi on Friday ordered that she should be remanded in prison pending when her bail application would be determined on September 25, 2019.
