The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Friday accused President Muhammadu Buhari of bringing in mercenaries from neighbouring countries to influence his election.

Buhari is the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The accusation is based on the presence at the Buhari campaign in Kano of two governors from Niger Republic – Issa Moussa of Zinder and Zakiri Umar of Maradi.

PDP described the two men as mercenaries and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to disqualify Buhari.

The National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus made the call on Friday during the presidential campaign of the party’s presidential candidate in Enugu, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

His words: “Now, on behalf of our great party, let me warn INEC, that what we witnessed yesterday at Buhari’s rally in Kano is the worse that even happened since the history of this country where mercenaries and government officers like governors and president of other countries came in their numbers from Niger Republic and Chad.

“They came with monies and mercenaries to influence elections in Nigeria. All the papers have reported it.

“Now we ask INEC, the unbiased umpire, to disqualify Buhari for bringing mercenaries to influence elections in Nigeria.

“INEC better be warned, you cannot rig these elections, we have won these elections, everywhere we have been, we have attracted more youth and women than APC.”

Secondus called on the people of Enugu to vote for Atiku stressing that “PDP is Enugu and Enugu is PDP.”

Atiku also called for the votes of the people of the state in the coming election, stressing that voting him in would be an opportunity to produce an Igbo vice president.
