Passport racketeering: EFCC arrests Immigration officer, 14 others

An officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Mr Adebimpe Kehinde, is in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s, INEC, net over alleged involvement in passport racketeering.

He was arrested along with 14 others persons suspected to be involved in the same crime.

According to the spokesman of the EFCC, Tony Orilade, in a statement, the arrest of the Immigration officer along with others was carried out following intelligence report.

He alleged that the suspects conspired to fraudulently collect money from unsuspecting members of the public seeking international passports.

EFCC recovered from them, five laptops, mobile telephones and some official documents.

Orilade said investigations were still going on and that they would be charged to court at the end.

Others arrested are Nnadika Timothy; Oyeyiga Samuel; Sunday Adekunle; Lola Kadoso; Adebayo Damilola; Adeola Oluwafikayomi Ajiboshin and Abubakri Adebayo.

Uka Ifeanyi; Raph Emeka Ibuaku; Henry Onyebuchi; Christy Odey; Aba-Peter Blessing; Ogunmefun Oluwanishola and Busayo Balogun were also arrested.
