The Zard Holding comprising Kopek, Sweetco and Zartech, has donated 100 beds and hospital equipment to the Oyo State government to fight the spread of the contagious coronavirus in the state.

The Group Property Manager of the conglomerate, Prince Taiwo Oriowo, who handed over the equipment to the state government through the state Head of COVID-19 Task Force and former Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Prof. Temitope Alonge, said the group donated the equipments as part of its corporate social responsibilities.

The equipment donated include 100 pieces of mattresses, 100 pieces of pillows, 100 pieces of beds and 100 pieces of hangers for the use of the victims of the contagious disease, the value which he put at N20 million.

He assured that the group would continue to support government at all levels in the quest to end the spread of the contagious disease not only in the state but all over the country.

Alonge, while appreciating the group for the generous donations, assured of the judicious use of the equipment, saying “the governor is concerned about the well-being of the people of Oyo State.”

He said, “On behalf of the government of Oyo State, we receive this with gratitude for the use of our people in the state. I am happy that our efforts are yielding results. We don’t want to take chances, as such we are putting in place measures to contain spread of the virus. I am happy to inform you that among the eight cases we have in the state, one client has been discharged, two are being monitored in their respective quarantine centres while five are doing excellently well.

“I want the people to know that the governor is not putting all the efforts here in Ibadan alone, but across the state. Olodo is a treatment centre. As I speak, the same efforts are in place in Saki and Ogbomosho. We are also happy that people are donating different consumables for us. For instance; just yesterday, a group of people were here to donate a building for us at Felele area of the city. We thank you for this donation and I want to assure you that this will not only improve the efforts of the government in Oyo State but it would reinforce the goodwill it is generating.”
