Oyo State government on Tuesday, suspended a secondary school student in the state, Ojo Roqeeb, over assault of a corps member.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Rahman Abiodun Abdu- Raheem frowned at a reported case of Ojo Roqeeb, an SSS 2 student of Anglican Commercial Secondary School, Orita-Mefa Ibadan, who slapped a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

The commissioner ordered an immediate one-month suspension for the student.

The commissioner, who visited the school also said the suspension would serve as a deterrent to other students, adding that a letter of suspension be given to his parents.

He also said the student, in return, must apologise to the corps member and sign an undertaking, not to repeat such an act.

While addressing the students, the commissioner charged them to be of good behaviour, reiterating that the Oyo State government would not condone any act of indiscipline.

He sternly warned that any student caught, acting in uncivilised manner, would henceforth be dismissed from schools in Oyo State.

Abdu-Raheem also charged teachers to be more dedicated and punctual at work.
