Following the gruesome killings of over 30 worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, by suspected terrorists, a Yoruba cultural group, Olofin Adimula Cultural and Traditional Foundation, ACATF, has called on the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, to direct traditionalists to invoke the gods of the land against the attackers.

The group, in a statement signed by its president and secretary, Alhaji Raheem Sabana and Comrade Adesina Akinpelu, respectively, expressed sadness and condemned the dastardly action of the suspected terrorists, stating that the action was a complete affront on not only Owo people but the entire Yoruba race.

It said, “This is an affront on not only Owo people but to the entire Yoruba race. We are using this medium to appeal to the Olowo of Owo, to place a curse on the killers and also direct traditionalists in the town to invoke the deities of the land against the killers.”

The statement added that the Owo massacre of innocent people by suspected terrorists had indicated that nowhere was safe in the South-West any longer.

The group, however, called on all the governors in the South-West to go back to the drawing board and fashion out new strategies to tackle insecurity in the region before it totally got out of hand.

It also stated that it would be going round Yorubaland to meet with traditional rulers on how to resuscitate ancient powers used by their forefathers to protect their kingdoms.

The group then commiserated with the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, Oba Ogunoye, the families of the victims and the entire Owo people over the sad incident.
