‘Osun proud of Ogunkeyede, First Chief Public Defender of Travis County’

The governor and government of Osun State have expressed delight over the appointment of Adeola Ogunkeyede as the first Chief Public Defender of Travis County, Texas, describing the appointment as a great honour especially to her source.

Adeola, who hails from Ilase in Obokun local government area of Osun State, and the daughter of activist and APC Chieftain Otunba Olajumoke Ogunkeyede, JMK, emerged from among 45 applicants for the position.

In a congratulatory statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Osun State, Mrs Funke Egbemode, the state government lauded Adeola’s impressive and transformative impact in the international legal system, which has earned her a pace in history.

The statement reads in part: “The State Government of Osun is elated by the news of Adeola Ogunkeyede’s appointment as the first Chief Public Defender of Travis County, Texas.

“Your impressive academic and professional credentials leave no one in doubt of your abilities to perform creditably in this new assignment and even in greater tasks that await you in the future.

“Osun is honoured to be blessed with a young icon like Adeola. She has held a brilliant torch that will encourage our teeming youths in Osun and in Nigeria that there is no barrier that focussed hard work cannot break. We are grateful to God as a people for the life of the new Chief Public Defender and congratulate the family of Otunba Olajumoke Ogunkeyede on this great achievement of our daughter.

“We congratulate Ms Ogunkeyede and wish her the very best in this challenging task of building a public defender’s office from the ground up. We pray for strength, wisdom and sustained excellence in her endeavours.

“We have no doubt that she will continue to prove to the world that every Omoluabi is the glory of the black race.”
